Hut Information
There are seven huts maintained by the Department of Conservation and three shelters on the Heaphy Track, of which five have gas-cooking facilities. Each of the huts has comfortable bunks, fireplaces or wood burners, and plentiful rain water supplies.
Browns Hut at the Collingwood end of the track and Gouland Downs Hut, which is a small hut on the alpine section around half way along the track, do not have cooking facilities, so if you plan on staying at these huts, you will need to carry a means of cooking your food.
