Katipo Creek Shelter to Scotts Beach

5.3 km (1 – 2 hours walk)

West Coast nikau palms all the way here, groves of them silhouette the sky and the sparkling azure of Tasman Sea, and line its many coves.

The section of the track near Koura (Crayfish) Point between Katipo Creek and Scotts Beech can be dangerous at high tide, please check tide times and plan your trip to ensure you are not crossing this section at two hours either side of high tide. Printable High Tide Tables are available for download from the Department of Conservation.
