Situated at the Collingwood end of the Heaphy Track, Brown Hut offers a simple 16-bunk facility with wood stove and fresh water. The hut doesn’t have lighting or gas-cooking facilities, but provides a good option if you want to make an early start up the hill to Perry Saddle Hut in the morning.

Hut Capacity: 16 Platform Bunks with Mattresses
Campsite Capacity: 10 Tent Sites (20 Campers)
Hut Facilities: Fireplace with wood supplied, bench top and sink, phone for local calls.
Water & Toilet: Cold running water. Long-drop toilet.
Mattresses are provided but you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag.
** Campers are not permitted to use hut facilities. **

Hut Fee $32 per night
Campsite Fee $14 per night
There is no charge for children 17 years and under. However, booking is still required. Bookings Are Essential – You can book a hut or campsite online or at a DOC visitor centre. You need to book before you start walking or mountain biking the Heaphy Track. Campers are not permitted to use hut facilities.
